My dear Luke turned 8 today! It is extraordinarily hard to keep life "normal" for kids when you are going through something like we are with Dail's Dad. But, Luke got to have his Star Wars birthday party (complete with homemade lightsabers made by Mom and Dad) and he had a blast! We even got a big screen put up at my work and the boys all watched Episode 1 on it. Luke is such a sweet, sentimental boy. He told me tonight as he was going to bed, "Mom, you know what my favorite gift is from my birthday?" I proceeded to guess a laundry list of things he got. He just kept telling me no. Finally, he said "My favorite gift is you and Dad." Awww - he is quite a blessing to us. I cannot express fully in words what it means to be a Mother, nor how special it is to have a son like him. His heart is so big, and his mind is so contemplative. I just love to watch the world through his eyes. Happy Birthday big boy! You changed my life 8 years ago!
